The New Buccaneer has been busy lately, with Captain Brian at the helm for each trip—and what a few days it's been!
Friday, July 25 it was a great day on the water, Captain Brian and customers brought in a limit of red snapper as well as a few vermillion snapper. There were quite a few solid fish in the mix, making for an all-around successful trip.
Saturday, July 26's trip had to be called off due to some rough weather and thunderstorms in the Gulf. We’ve been talking with other captains along the coast, and everyone’s noticing the same thing: red snapper fishing can be hit or miss this season. Sometimes the fish are smaller, and even when the electronics show a ton of them, they just don’t want to bite. That’s how it goes—each day is different. Friday was fantastic, Saturday was a weather washout, and Sunday was a bit slow.
Monday, July 28 rolled around and things turned right back around! The New Buccaneer brought in a limit of 190 red snapper, 99 vermillion snapper, two king mackerel, and even an African pompano. Now that’s a great day on the water!
This just goes to show—fishing can change day by day. Snapper season this year has been a little less predictable than in the past. Most days are excellent, but every now and then, you get a slow one. That’s fishing!
